Our students attended Inventions – Discoveries – Patents

On Feb. 15, 2017 our students of 5th and 6th Grade attended a presentation by Dr. Fotis K. Liotopoulos on “Inventions – Discoveries – Patents”. Dr. Liotopoulos is the General Manager and CEO/CTO of SBOING.net, an SME founded and operating in Diavata with international distinctions.

This presentation was part of the preparatory activities for the Turkish Conference in March 2017 on the thematic area called “National Historical Inventions”.

Our students had the opportunity to learn and understand the differences between an invention and a discovery, the main characteristics of an invention and its definition as well as what it takes to become an inventor. They were also informed about the protection of intellectual property rights and the processes involved in filing a patent.

The students were also presented a local invention, SBOING, which is an internationally patented in 17 countries methodology for improved satellite navigation.
